Our History

Since 1981, Pickens County Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated more than 100 safe, decent, and affordable homes for more than 300 individuals in need.

1995 – First mortgage is satisfied.

Pickens County Habitat’s third homeowner, Viola Allen of Pickens, paid off her Habitat home mortgage at the age of 80 becoming the affiliate’s first homeowner to do so.  She paid double house payments in order to satisfy the loan in just 10 years.  Habitat home loans are sold to homeowners for zero profit and with no interest.
