Earlier this summer, we marked the beginning of something meaningful.
Pickens County Habitat for Humanity, Easley Presbyterian Church, and Family Promise gathered to bless the land where a new transitional home will stand. It wasn’t about ceremony or photo ops. It was a moment of faith, claiming the space and committing to the work ahead.
This cooperative build will provide shelter and stability to families in transition, offering a place to land during seasons of uncertainty. For many, it will be the first step toward long-term housing and lasting hope.
Construction began in June, powered by volunteers from the church and the wider community. his effort is rooted in love, carried out in service, and fueled by a shared belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
What we’re building together is more than a structure. It is a reflection of God’s love in motion.
This is the Church in the world. It meets people where they are and walks with them toward something better.
Pickens County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Tamara Dourney shared her thoughts on the project:
“This wasn’t just a blessing; it was a visible act of faith. What we witnessed was a community saying, ‘We see the need, and we’re here to meet it together.’ Like the boy who brought his loaves and fishes, it only takes one person to offer what they have and spark something greater. This project begins the same way. People step up, give what they can, and trust that love and service will multiply. That is how lasting change is built.”
We are honored to partner with Easley Presbyterian Church and Family Promise and grateful for every person who shows up to serve. Let this be the first of many reminders: when faith moves, homes rise, hearts lift, and lives change.
