Pickens Habitat brings people together to build community! Since 1981, we've helped neighbors achieve the safety and security that can be found in affordable homeownership. We couldn't do this without the help of our local community and caring partners.

Read on to learn more about the impact we've made through the years with the help of generous donors and dedicated volunteers.

Faith in Action: Easley Presbyterian Church

A white church with a tall steeple and classic architecture stands on a large, neatly maintained green lawn. The building is surrounded by a few young trees and flowering bushes. The sky is clear and bright, suggesting a sunny day.

At Pickens County Habitat for Humanity, we see our work as a response to the call to serve others, a mission we’re blessed to share with Easley Presbyterian Church. Under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Bill Seel, lead pastor, Associate Pastor for Youth and Missions John DuBose, and Dr. Christie Sweeny Gravely, Associate Pastor for Congregational Life & Care, Easley Presbyterian has been an exceptional partner in our efforts to bring affordable housing to Pickens County.

Their leadership has not only inspired the congregation but has also created a powerful example of faith in action, driving initiatives that uplift families and strengthen our community. Together, this dedicated team has woven Habitat’s mission into the fabric of Easley Presbyterian, fostering a collaborative spirit that reminds us of the strength of united purpose. Through their efforts, the church community has embraced the importance of making affordable housing accessible for all, motivating others to join our shared mission.

Reflecting on the church’s partnership with PCHFH, Pastor John shared, “God calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves - that’s precisely what Habitat is doing in Pickens County. As a church, we’re grateful for the chance to partner with Habitat in the good and life-giving work they are doing. We certainly couldn’t do this work on our own; it requires a community. Our partnership with Habitat is one small part of the blessed community God is building in our midst.”

As we prepare to launch new projects inspired by this partnership, we are reminded that it’s the unity of purpose and faith that drives meaningful change. Easley Presbyterian Church’s leaders and congregation exemplify the heart of service, encouraging each of us at Habitat to continue pursuing a vision where everyone has a decent place to live.

With deep gratitude, we celebrate this collaboration and look forward to sharing exciting updates as we continue building hope and a stronger community for Pickens County. Stay tuned for what’s to come!
