Zoraya “Z” Roldán Rockow, PhD, is a senior lecturer at the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering in the discipline area of construction engineering and management.  She is the department’s senior design Keystone [capstone] course coordinator and teaches Infrastructure Planning and Management, Project Management, and Construction Specifications and Contract Law.

In addition to lecturing, Dr. Z is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is lucky to be the lead faculty advisor for the fantastic students at Pickens County Habitat for Humanity at Clemson (Campus Chapter).  She has worked with them in various capacities since 2022 to help coordinate project management and continuity plans with the student officers to sustain the program within the campus.

In addition to the academic world, Dr. Z has 29 years of experience in project and construction management, from heavy industrial private firms to government agencies. Despite the challenges of moving every few years during her husband’s military career, those relocations provided her with vast and varied job experiences, including projects in large industrial facilities, residential utilities, military facilities, federal agencies, county buildings, and national museums and trails, all around the United States and in three foreign countries. Dr. Z is originally from Puerto Rico and lived most of her life in upstate South Carolina.  She is a member of the University Lutheran Church with her husband and two kids.

With their extensive construction background, educational expertise, and passion for mentoring our Campus Chapter students, we are fortunate to have board members like Dr. Z. Their commitment strengthens our builds, inspires future leaders, and reflects the very best of what it means to serve this community.
