Volunteer Spotlight: Welcoming Joseph Huss to Our C2 Team!
At Pickens County Habitat for Humanity, our work is powered by the dedication of incredible volunteers. This month, we’re excited to introduce Joseph Huss, the newest member of our C2 Program—a team of core volunteers who commit at least four hours a week to help build safe, affordable housing for local families.
The C2 Program is ideal for those looking to make a lasting impact through hands-on work, whether on construction sites or behind the scenes. Their consistent efforts keep our projects moving forward and allow us to serve more families in our community.
A Passion for Service and Building
For Joseph, volunteering with Habitat is a natural extension of his lifelong love for construction and service.
“Being new to Habitat for Humanity has provided an immediate sense of joy through the opportunity to build and serve,” he shared.
Growing up, Joseph spent countless hours helping his father with home construction projects. That passion never faded, and over the years, he continued offering his skills to family and friends—renovating homes, building decks, and tackling DIY projects. Now, as a retired Army officer, he’s found a new way to combine his skills with his commitment to serving others.
“Working with my hands, working with Kevin, and helping others are a great source of happiness for me.”
Joseph has already made an impact on our build sites, working alongside our Construction Coordinator, Kevin Parris, and other dedicated volunteers. His enthusiasm and willingness to jump in wherever needed have been a wonderful addition to the team.
“After many years serving as an Army officer and now enjoying retirement, I’m truly grateful to be volunteering with the Pickens County Habitat for Humanity team. It’s the perfect place to combine my love of hands-on work and continuing to serve. Thank you to the entire team. I encourage other veterans—and anyone who enjoys serving—to come join the fun!”
