Ladies, grab your hard hats and hammers—this is your time to shine! Pickens County Habitat for Humanity is thrilled to invite you to Women Build 2025, happening on March 8, 2025. This day is all about women rolling up their sleeves, learning new skills, and making a real impact in our community. Together, we’ll build homes, hope, and a brighter future for families who need it most.
What’s Women Build All About?
Forget the stereotypes—Women Build is where women take the lead, proving that construction isn’t just for the guys. Across the globe, Habitat for Humanity's Women Build events have empowered women to tackle the critical need for affordable housing. With tools in hand, participants smash barriers, learn valuable skills, and show the world what a group of determined women can accomplish.
This year, we’re proud to bring Women Build to Pickens County, a celebration of the strength, resilience, and compassion of women right here at home. By the end of the day, you’ll be building more than houses—you’ll be building confidence, community, and an incredible legacy.
From Grassroots to Greatness: A Quick History of Women Build
Women Build started in 1991 when a group of women in Charlotte, North Carolina, decided it was time to create a space for women to lead the charge in construction. By 1998, the first all-women-built Habitat house was completed, and the movement hasn’t slowed down since.
Today, Women Build projects are a global phenomenon, proving that when women come together, they can create change that lasts. From honing construction skills to fostering lifelong friendships, Women Build is about more than swinging a hammer—it’s about building a better world.
Why Should You Join Women Build?
If you’ve ever wanted to pick up a hammer and make a real difference, now’s your chance. Here’s why Women Build is an event you don’t want to miss:

Here’s what your day will look like:
- A warm welcome and quick training to get you started.
- Hands-on construction activities tailored to all skill levels (yes, even first-timers!).
- A chance to meet other awesome women while sharing stories over lunch.

Why Women Build Matters
Here’s the thing: Housing insecurity impacts women and children disproportionately, and Women Build is our way of standing together to change that.
