In the heart of Clemson, a new chapter has begun for a deserving family as Pickens County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) celebrated the dedication of our latest home. The dedication ceremony, held on November 12, 2023, marked a significant milestone not only for the family but also for the community and everyone involved in the project.

The event was graced with heartfelt blessings and expressions of hope. Edwin Rosario and Migdelia Rivera welcomed attendees to their new home with open arms and an array of delicious homemade treats. The dedication ceremony included a series of room blessings, each symbolizing the love and care infused into every corner of the home. PCHFH board members Cathy Turner, Donna DiAntonio, Sue Tuvell, and Marian Benton led these blessings, covering the entryway, family room, kitchen, and bedrooms. These blessings reflected the hope that the home will be a place of hospitality, companionship, nourishment, peace, and renewal for the family.

The Litany of Dedication was a poignant moment, led by Alley Linder and Ken Glenn, where everyone present affirmed their collective dedication to the home and the ideals it represents. This part of the ceremony underscored the collaborative spirit and goodwill that underpins Habitat's mission. The dedication also acknowledged the numerous contributors to the project, highlighting the essential roles of Great Southern Homes, the Clemson University Campus Chapter, PRISMA Health, Tri-County Technical College employees, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Clemson members, and an array of local volunteers. This diverse group of supporters and volunteers came together to turn the dream of homeownership into a reality for the family.

During the ceremony, Jill Evans presented a token of appreciation to Great Southern Homes, recognizing their significant contribution to the project. Chandler Coggeshall, representing Great Southern Homes, expressed their continued commitment to supporting Habitat's mission. Alley Linder also presented a Bible to the family, symbolizing hope and guidance for their future in the new home. Bob DiAntonio led the Prayer of Dedication, culminating in an emotional and uplifting moment for everyone present.

The highlight of the event was the comments from the partner family, expressing their gratitude and joy. “We are very grateful to God for our home and to all of you who have made our dreams come true,” Migdelia shared, fighting back tears of joy. “Let's not lose faith in humanity,” she added, pointing out that there are more good people than bad. Her words resonated with those present, reminding everyone of the profound impact of Habitat's work on individual lives and the community.

As we celebrate this new beginning, it's a reminder of the ongoing need for affordable housing and the difference it makes in people's lives. Each Habitat home dedication is more than just the construction of walls and roofs; it's about building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. As PCHFH continues its mission, the dedication of this home reflects the enduring power of community collaboration and the spirit of giving.
